Something on HMRC’s compatible list. There is no HMRC product to file with, and you cannot send a quarterly update through the ordinary online Self Assessment service.
There is a choice of packages at a range of prices, including some free options for the simplest affairs, and bridging tools for anyone keeping a spreadsheet.
What matters is that it can keep the digital records, send the four updates and make the final declaration. Some products do only part of that, so check before paying for anything.
The current list is HMRC’s list of compatible software.
Tofta is not accounting software and is not on that list. It watches the dates so you know an update is coming. It does not file anything.
