Question

How often does a gas safety certificate need doing?

Answered

Every twelve months, for as long as there is a gas appliance in the property.

A Gas Safe registered engineer has to carry out the check and issue the record. You can have it done up to two months before the expiry date without losing the original anniversary, which is worth knowing if you want to line several properties up.

The tenant gets a copy within 28 days of the check. A new tenant gets one before they move in.
